Government Sponsored Food Assistance requires the following items:
Both TEFAP (USDA) and CSFP (SENIOR BOXES) require households to meet certain income guidelines. Click here to see the income limits. If your household income is above these limits, please apply for our Food Pantry program.
For TEFAP (USDA): Current utility bill or other mail showing current street address Current driver’s license or state id Names, ages and race of everyone in the household (if new or adding people to the household) Permission slip if picking up for someone else
For CSFP (SENIOR BOX): Current utility bill Current driver’s license or state id Social Security/Retirement Award letters and/or Check Stubs Proof of any additional income (rental, etc) Names, ages and race of everyone in the household (if new or adding people to the household)
The TEFAP (USDA) and CSFP (Senior Box) programs are distributed on certain days only. Please see our calendar for the next distribution days. Only those already on the Master List for Senior Boxes should come on Senior Boxes Days. All others should come on USDA Days. If qualified, households will also receive their Pantry program food on these days.
Appointments are not needed but, in order to allow for interview time, applicants need to be in the office no later than 1:00 pm. Financial assistance requires additional items, please see Financial Assistance.
Unless it is a government sponsored food distribution day, applicants should sign in and take a seat. Applicants will be called to the desk and copies will be made of the required information. As soon as possible, the applicants will be interviewed. During the interview, applicants will be asked to verify all information and to give an average amount of their utilities. They will be asked about all of their expenses. It is during this interview process that we try to determine if there are other programs or services that applicants may qualify for. Sometimes we will require that applicants apply for other programs before receiving assistance from LCGS.
What is a “certification period”?
A certification period is the amount of time we will be able to use the information provided before we ask for verification again. Any time there is a change at all, clients are required to let us know before receiving services.
Generally speaking, if all adults in the home are on a fixed income such as Social Security, SSI, pension, etc., then that household would be certified for the current calendar year. Food stamp dates are noted and anytime clients receive a new letter they should bring it to the office.
All other households may be certified for any period from “one time only” to “six months” depending on the situation. Zero-income must be verified each time. |

NOTES:
A household includes everyone who lives under the same roof and who does not have separate utilities bills. Just because clients have separate food stamp cases does not mean we can count them separate.
Income includes all types: wages, odd jobs, babysitting, child support, food stamps, welfare, social security and disability, rental, retirement, etc. |
