DISCOUNT PROGRAM

12-15-08: The Russellville City Council passed an ordinance allowing for a $10 per month discount on the water bills of those who are age 65+ or who are permanently disabled and who meet certain income guidelines. The complete ordinance is available at the City Clerk’s office.

 

Early in 2008, we were approached by the city to partner with them on this program. The only part Good Samaritan plays in the program is to certify those who qualify.

 

In April, 2008, the city did a pre-registration period to try to judge the need for this service. Several clients came to our offices and filled out the paperwork. Those clients who were pre-approved should see the discount on their January 2009 bill.

 

IN ORDER TO APPLY FOR THIS DISCOUNT, CLIENTS MUST BRING IN PROOF OF THEIR CURRENT YEAR’S INCOME. Since all clients who qualify for this discount are on fixed incomes which usually change in January, it was determined that re-certifications should take place then. Also, we re-certify all of our clients in December/January so many times we can combine the interviews.
